FAA: The Federal
Aviation Administration is involved in every aspect of aviation we can think
of. It stands to reason that their website might offer information of value
to us. The FAA publishes not shortage of rules, regulations, certification
requirements, etc. All of this information has always been available to all
of us. The hassle is been in actually getting the information. That problem
is a matter of the past once you discover the
FAA Regulation and Certification Group section of the FAA website.
The Civil
Aviation Registry website offers helpful information for builders that
will be registering their aircraft. You can even download the entire
Aviation Registry database. It is in the form of a series of database files
you can download. The files are very large (approximately 22 megabytes), and
once you download them, you will really have to load them into some form of
database system. One website has gone to the trouble of downloading the
databases for you and have given you a web interface to that data. You can
access this data on the Landings.com
website.
NTSB: The NTSB
investigates all aviation accidents and publishes reports on those
investigations. The NTSB makes those reports available on their website. You
can access the reports by a monthly
listing, or you can do a criteria
based search.
